SILVER CARE
With proper care with you silver jewelry, your silver treasure can be with you eternally!

5 Ways to slow down tarnish formation

1. PROPER STORAGE: This is very easy. Remember these ideal storage conditions: Clean, Cool, Dry, and Dark.

Just keep it in any air-tight container like wooden box from 360Jewels or the sealed plastic bag when you don't use it.  It is wise to keep

all your jewelry away from hairspray, perfume, soaps, lotions and other daily use chemicals - and keeping your jewelry clean and dry is a must and can slow down the tarnishing process. Store your silver jewelry separately to avoid scratches.

2. BEFORE USE: Apply your hair spray before wearing silver and make sure your lotion or perfume is well absorbed to your skin or clothes. Your hands must be free from lotion or other chemicals before touching silver jewelry.

3. DURING USE: Avoid exposing your jewelry with chemicals and grease e.g. perfume, hair spray, food etc. Just keep it as clean and dry as you can.

4. AFTER USE:  It's as simple as cleaning it by soaking in soapy water and rubbing it with a soft cloth.  However, the piece which is more porous and silver chains might require that you use a very soft toothbrush.  After scrubbing, don't forget to rinse thoroughly to remove any soap film that will cause your jewelry to appear dull.  You will be pleasantly surprised with the immediate results of your efforts.

Another easy way is to clean it with a special soft "silver polishing cloth".  It's less complicated comparing to using soapy water but the cons is it cannot reach into cracks and crevices of chains, for example.  There are also other alternatives like silver cleaning paste, etc.

If there still remains orange or green discoloration in your pretty silver jewelry, then take the next step of dipping it quickly in a good jewelry cleaning liquids.  Your jewelry will be back to shining and beautiful.

5. RHODIUM PLATE IT!: Rhodium Plating is a long-lasting way to prevent tarnishing.  It's almost a permanent method to protect silver from tarnishing (rhodium can wear off too, but it takes quite a long time).  Rhodium plating works nicely in protecting your silver from tarnishing and also scratches! Anyway, some people don't like it because rhodium plating doesn't provide the same silver's natural shine. Many jewelry stores offer rhodium plating service at an affordable price.
